Day 1 - Arrive and explore Interlaken

Fly from the UK to Zurich with rail travel to Lucerne to join the Luzern-Interlaken Express to Interlaken. Welcome to your hotel and enjoy your first look round and get your bearings.

Day 2 - In and around the glorious Bernese Oberland

Enjoy free unlimited travel with your Swiss Travel Pass on the Lakes of Thun and Brienz, or trips to the alpine villages of Wengen and Grindelwald where onward mountain railways and cable cars are offered at up to 50% reduction. A memorable visit to the Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe is available at 25% reduction.

Day 3-4 - GoldenPass Express to Montreux and stunning Lake Geneva

The GoldenPass Express journey takes you along Lake Thun, then heads into the scenic mountains before a spectacular descent towards Lake Geneva with unforgettable views. Enjoy your time in Montreux with its cafés and a wonderful promenade which you can follow to the romantic Chillon Castle - entry is free with your Swiss Travel Pass, as is travel on the lake steamers. The mountain railway to Les Rochers-De-Naye at 50% reduction is highly recommended.

Day 5-6 - Travel to Zermatt and explore the beautiful Alps

Regional rail from the lake to the high Alps - and your first glimpse of the Matterhorn! Charming Zermatt is a delight to explore and there are plenty of mountain rail and cable cars available at a 50% reduction. Take a trip to Klein Matterhorn at 3,883m, or the cog railway to the pure air and mountain restaurants of the Gornergrat. You will not be disappointed by the views and walking routes in this stunning alpine region.

Day 7 - Glacier Express to St. Moritz including lunch

Relax on the leisurely Glacier Express for the full 7½ journey to St. Moritz. This wonderful journey includes a 3 course lunch served at your table; drinks are available to buy throughout the journey. Scenic highlights include the Oberalp Pass, Rhine Gorge and the Landwasser Viaduct.

Day 8 - A day in St. Moritz and the Upper Engadin region

The joy of a Swiss holiday is visiting the mountains and during the summer months, your holiday includes the fabulous Engadin Inclusive Card with unlimited free transport including mountain railways and cable cars, buses and local trains - real freedom of the Alps!

Day 9 - Bernina Express journey to Lugano

Magnificent mountain views abound as you travel on the Bernina Express. The Bernina Bus then takes you through Italian countryside and crosses back to Lugano. Time to enjoy an evening stroll along the stunning lake.

Day 10 - Lakeside Lugano and the sunny Ticino region

Lugano is a lovely resort with an Italian influence on its architecture and cuisine. Your Ticino Ticket gives free travel on local trains and buses to help make the most of your holiday. Or why not take a lake cruise, free with your Swiss Travel Pass, to the picturesque village of Gandria.

Day 11 - 1st class Gotthard Panorama Express to Lucerne

Your next adventure is at a leisurely pace with 1st class panoramic carriages taking you slowly upwards on looping mountain tracks, with some fabulous scenery to enjoy. On arrival in Flüelen you’ll join the paddle steamer on the 1st class upper deck for a scenic cruise along the whole length of the lake to Lucerne.

Day 12 - Explore Lucerne’s Old Town and surrounding beauty

With your Swiss Travel Pass, Lucerne is perfectly placed to enjoy free travel around the dramatic scenery of Central Switzerland including the famous old cog railway to the stunning peak of Mount Rigi or the Stanserhorn open top deck cable car.

Day 13-14 - Pre-Alpine Express and delightful Appenzell

A charming journey on the Voralpen Express taking in Lake Zurich, rolling hills and the Sitter Viaduct en route to St. Gallen where you change for Appenzell. This small town is a delightful place in which to relax amongst the buildings ornately decorated with historical frescoes. With your Swiss Travel Pass you can also enjoy a free cruise to historic Stein-Am-Rhein or a visit to the mighty Rhine Falls.

Day 15 - Last day

Enjoy a coffee and stroll around Appenzell before your train back to the airport.
