Brunnen is a delightful village with a unique lakes and mountains landscape: located on the corner of the lake and with stunning views to the Gotthard peaks. This is the heart of Switzerland, with the Rütli Meadow - birthplace of the Swiss Confederation - close at hand. The colourful Treib assembly house lies just across the lake while the historic Axis Road links Brunnen with Flüelen. This is also Wilhelm Tell country and you will find reminders of his story, particularly along the path of the Swiss Trail. The fairytale scenery has attracted visitors such as Queen Victoria, Churchill and Turner, who painted several watercolours here.Â
During the summer, you can head to the lively lakeshore for traditional alphorn concerts and boat races. Brunnen is well connected for exploring the region and has a nearby cable car to take you to Mount Urmiberg for spectacular views. You could also take a short bus ride to visit the sunny plateau of Morschach and from there, the idyllic village of Stoos and the Fronalpstock with its panorama walk.
