The Trutg dil Flem riverside walking trail is recommended, starting at a magnificent waterfall and following the path the River Flem has carved all the way down to the centre of the village. You can walk or take public transport to the River Rhine itself and the spectacular sight of the Rhine Gorge, which is often known as Switzerland's Grand Canyon.

The awesome Rhine Gorge was formed over 9,000 years ago. It is not at all far from Flims and offers some fabulous walks and views over the 'Swiss Grand Canyon'. Switzerland's oldest town - Chur - is also close at hand and has plenty of history to explore during a day trip here including an 800 year old cathedral. From Chur you could even take the scenic train up to Arosa for more mountain views.

From Flims, you can easily reach Chur which is at the heart of several scenic rail journeys. You can join the famous Glacier Express across the Alps to Zermatt. Alternatively you can board the Bernina Express through to Lugano.
