8 Days Interlaken And The Bernese Oberland Holiday

An 08.50 flight to Zurich and rail transfer to Interlaken means that you arrive in the resort with time for an afternoon stroll along the lively Höheweg, perhaps pausing in the park for a view up to the Jungfrau mountains. Your holiday includes a Bernese Oberland Pass, which offers fantastic value and allows you to take trips every day of your holiday at no cost. As Interlaken benefits from being at the heart of a fantastic travel network, there is a huge choice of visits to scenic lakes and mountains locations. Maybe you would like to start on the water – in Interlaken there are two beautiful lakes to explore, each with a timetable of cruises calling at pretty villages. Both Lake Thun and Lake Brienz have a full timetable of departures in the summer; time your journey right and you could be cruising aboard a restored paddle steamer, making your journey even more special. 

Then there are the mountains, including some of the most treasured spots in Switzerland. With your Pass, take the train up from Interlaken into the Jungfrau region to discover alpine villages such as Wengen and Grindelwald. Continue from Grindelwald on the cable car to the Männlichen where you will find a delightful mountain restaurant and scenic walking trails. Above pretty Mürren is a real favourite - Schilthorn-Piz Gloria, a mountain peak at 2,970m with outstanding views, a revolving restaurant and plenty of activities to enjoy.  

You won't want to miss the steam train which chugs its way slowly up the Rothorn mountain from Brienz. This is a unique experience to treasure. Walkers can embark on a choice of trails on the mountains, more sedate visitors can relax on the restaurant terrace and enjoy the view. Other mountains close to Interlaken such as Niederhorn, the pyramid shaped Niesen and the Stockhorn are also included.
