You can easily spend the whole day visiting the Niederhorn - Beatenberg - St.Beatus Höhlen. Not only are there plenty of hiking and walking opportunities for all ages, there are also activities for families and children. The Niederhorn offers amazing views over the region and the chance to spot alpine creatures such as marmots, ibex and deer. Beatenberg is a resort on a sunny terrace, where you can stop for a drink and relax amidst the stunning scenery. St. Beatus Höhlen are a series of interesting limestone caves. Visitors can explore around 1km of the system thanks to the lighting and secure paths.

Restaurants
There is a lovely buffet restaurant at Beatenbucht almost next to the boat station. It has beautiful views over the lakes. The restaurant Berghaus Niederhorn is open for the whole summer season offering a variety of hot and cold food and drink. There is also a Bärgrestaurant on the Vorsassalp.Â
Trotti bikes
Why not try the Trotti biking experience from the middle station Vorsass, which is the starting point of the trail. The scooter bikes can be hired from the middle station and the price includes a helmet. You then return the scoot in the valley at the Niederhorn cable car station. There is a short route which takes approximately 20-30 minutes or the long route 60 minutes.
St. Beatus Caves (Höhlen)
St. Beatus Caves (Höhlen) are open from late March to October. The caves are open from 10.00 - 18.00 and the last tour is at 17.00. Guided tours take place every 30 minutes and last approximately 1 hour. Make sure you have a light jacket with you as it can get cooler in the caves. The cave museum is open from 10.30-17.30. Outside of the caves are lovely walks with views of the waterfalls and playground with a dragon theme for the children. Reduced entry price with the Bernese Oberland Regional Pass.
Hiking
The starting point of your hike begins only a few steps from the Niederhorn mountain cable car with more than 120km of hiking and mountain trails to be discovered. The hiking times vary and a few suggested hikes are as follows:
Niederhorn - Flösch Vorsass - Bodenalp - Riedboden - Beatenberg
Hiking time: 2hrs, distance: 4.9 km
Niederhorn - Burgfeldstand - Gemmenalphorn - Seefeld Oberberg Justistal - Grön - Beatenberg
Hiking time: 5hrs 30, distance: 15.7 km
Niederhorn - Haberelegi - Beatenberg
Hiking time: 2hrs, distance: 4.2 km
Directions
You can reach Beatenbucht by boat or PostBus from Thun, Spiez or Interlaken West and from there take the funicular up to Beatenberg, followed by the cable car up to the Niederhorn. Once at the top it is only a short walk to reach the summit (wheelchair accessible) and magnificent views of the Bernese Oberland with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfraujoch await you.Â
The funicular and cable car operate every 20 minutes.
The Beatus Caves are located close to Beatenhöhlen boat station and it is a 20-25 minute walk to get to the entrance of the caves.
