From the Niesen you can see stunning views of the Bernese Alps, the Bernese Oberland and the lakes. On some days you can even see as far as the Jura Mountains in the north. The summit can be reached by the Niesen funicular, or you can of course reach the top on foot along the hiking trail. The travel time from Interlaken is approximately 70 minutes.

Hiking the Pyramid

The Niesen (2,362 meters) offers a great selection of hiking paths in a beautiful alpine world. Witness this beauty yourself and combine your hike with a train ride to the top of the mountain where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Bernese Oberland and the high Alps. We recommend that you wear good comfortable shoes.

360° viewing platform

From the top of the Niesen you can see the fantastic 360° panorama view including the Alps, Lake Thun and Brienz and the Jura mountains. It is a 5 minute walk from the hotel/restaurant to reach the viewing platform.

Niesen village

Niesen village is a great place for families with a scenic playground for the children to have fun and the adults can enjoy the views. There is also a restaurant next door for a spot of lunch!

At the top of the Niesen there is a mountain lodge with a wonderful terrace where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the views.

Directions

The base station of the Niesen funicular is located in Mülenen and is only a few metres walk from the train station.

Mülenen is a 10 minute train journey from Spiez, however, please note that the train stops only on request. Push the stop button in the train and also at the station in Mülenen. During the high season the Niesen funicular departs every half hour. At busy periods this will be increased to every fifteen minutes.
