Highlights
Journey to the mountain
The modern cable car takes you up from the Chur base station to Brambrüesch in 2 stages.
The middle station is Känzeli at 1,170m, while the summit station at Brambrüesch lies at 1,595m altitude.
Refreshments
There are 5 mountain restaurants for you to choose from. The Panoramahotel Malixerhof is a short walk from the summit station of the cable car. It offers international and local dishes and a wonderful view from its terrace.
At the middle station, the rustic Känzeli restaurant is a good choice for cold plates and barbecued sausages and chops, or simply a refreshing drink.
Walking
There are a number of marked walking trails on the mountain, ranging from a 3km trail suitable for families to a more challenging 12km hike. You will find views of mountain lakes, alpine meadows filled with flowers, forests, mountain hamlets and the high Alps in the background.Â
Some of the best viewing points include the Dreibüdenstein, which at 2,160m marks historical Graubünden freedom fighters, the panorama at Furggabü which is the highest point in the area (2,174m) and the natural terrace at Spundisköpfe, a superb vantage point over the mountains and the city below.
Mountain adventure
An alpine freeride bike park offers thrills, while there are also more general mountain bike trails for you to enjoy. Scooter bikes are also available to hire locally and offer a more sedate descent.Â
You could take the delightful 8km panoramic walk from the Brambrüesch summit station along to the Pradaschieralp. Here you will find a summer toboggan run, one of the longest in the world! The run ends in Churwalden and it's a quick PostBus trip back to Chur.Â
All activities payable locally.
