Highlights
Toboggan run
What better way to enjoy the view than on a summer toboggan run! The run is 736m long and drops around 58m. This means that you can reach speeds of 40km per hour - a fabulous rush of adrenalin for all ages! It runs from May until October (weather permitting) and is open from 11.00-17.00 low season and 10.30-18.00 high season. Please note: Children under 9 years must be accompanied by an adult. Payable locally.
Fly Line
For those seeking further adventureus, you can try the Pfingstegg Fly Line. A 2 and a half minute flight over 350 metres, you travel at 8-12km per hour, with breath-taking alpine scenery. The starting and ending point is just below the Pfingstegg gondola mountain station. Thanks to a specially developed lift system, this is the only Fly Line in the world where you are being brought back to the starting point without having to walk ... so you can just enjoy the experience. Payable locally.
Refreshments
Enjoy a drink in the Pfingstegg restaurant beside the mountain station. Children will also enjoy the playground and the treasure trail.Â
Hiking
There are a several different walks from Pfingstegg which offer unique views of the glacier world, the Alps and the valley. Here are a few other suggested routes:
A: Pfingstegg - Milchbach - Oberer Gletscher
A fairly easy walk taking in the Rubiweid hut and the Milchbach restaurant where you can enjoy a refreshing drink. Make your way over the glacier stream and down towards the Hotel Wetterhorn where there is a bus for the hour's journey back to Grindelwald. Walking time is approximately 1hr 30.
B: Pfingstegg - Grindelwald
The nature trail from Pfingstegg to Grindelwald is also accessible with a pram. Walking time is approximately 1hr 15.
C: Grindelwald - Halten - Pfingstegg
Steep walk up to the Pfingstegg restaurant from Grindelwald but you will be rewarded with beautiful views from the terrace of the valley and the surrounding area. Walking time is approximately 1hr 20.
D: Pfingstegg - Marmorbruch - Gletscherschlucht
A downhill walk from Pfingstegg which will take you past the Glacier Gorge. A visit to the gorge is highly recommended (payable locally). Walking time is approximately 1hr 30.
E: Pfingstegg - Bäregg
This walk takes you past the glacier and offers stunning views of the glacier and ice. It is a very enjoyable walk and takes approximately 1hr 30.
Directions
Take the train from Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen to Grindelwald.
From the village station it is a 10-15 minute walk to the Pfingstegg cable car or alternatively there are PostBuses available from the station.
