Day 1-4 - Discover the mountain delights of Grindelwald

It’s a morning flight to Zurich (around 08.40) with rail transfer to the 4 star Hotel Kreuz & Post in the village centre. You'll have time for a pleasant afternoon stroll along charming Grindelwald high street - perhaps choose a café and take in the views of the mighty Eiger mountain which rises high above. The half board option for evening meals is recommended as the Kreuz & Post restaurant is well regarded.  

During your stay you have a huge choice of alpine excursions including the local First mountain which boasts glorious views and the picturesque Bachalpsee. There are a number of activities here including the Cliff Walk, electric 'Trottibikes' and a thrilling zip wire. You may like to join a walking trail at Kleine Scheidegg to experience the beautiful landscape, or journey on the heritage railway to Schynige Platte or even visit the famous Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe at 3,571m. There is discounted travel with your Swiss Travel Pass throughout your stay.

Day 5 - Scenic journey to Weggis

Journey down to Interlaken where you join the Luzern-Interlaken Express for the 2 hour scenic rail route over the dramatic Brünig Pass. From Lucerne it’s a delightful cruise to Weggis where a warm welcome awaits you at the 4 star Hotel Alexander with its glorious lake views. The half board evening meal option comes highly recommended.

Day 6-8 - Tranquil Weggis and the mountains of Central Switzerland

Weggis is a peaceful lakeside village nestling below magnificent Mount Rigi. This is the perfect place from which to explore the gentle alpine walking paths on the mountain and to enjoy the spectacular views over the lake. There is a cable car from the village or you could cruise along to Vitznau and take the vintage cogwheel train up from there - all covered by your Swiss Travel Pass. 

Other mountain excursionsare included such as the Stanserhorn with its unique open top cable car, or you could visit Mount Pilatus at a 50% discount.  One of the highlights of your stay should be a Lake Lucerne cruise all the way along the shimmering lake to Rütli and the very heart of Switzerland. You may like to have lunch on board - and if you time your journey right you could be gliding along the water on a vintage paddle steamer.

Thanks to a late afternoon flight, you could head back to historic Lucerne for lunch and souvenir shopping before leaving on the train back to the airport.
