If you are connecting with the GoldenPass Express to Montreux, that journey will be a further 3¼ hours.
Details of the Luzern-Interlaken Express route
Lucerne > Meiringen > Interlaken
The route takes you from Lake Lucerne to the Bernese Oberland, via a high mountain pass and beautiful lakes and countryside. The train timetables are co-ordinated with the GoldenPass Express should you wish to continue the journey to Montreux.
A charming and historic town on the shore of Lake Lucerne. This is a favourite resort for lakes and mountains views as well as getting out and about to visit those mountains for scenic walks and lunches. You can also connect with the Gotthard Panorama Express from Lucerne.
The train climbs 566m and crosses the scenic Brünig Pass. The section from Giswil requires the train to engage its cog rail system to overcome a gradient four times steeper than the famous Gotthard line. The journey continues to Meiringen, starting point for visits to the region's gorges and mountain lakes as well as a strong association with Sherlock Holmes.
From Meiringen, you'll travel through the Hasli Valley then the train runs alongside picturesque Lake Brienz before arriving into Interlaken. This lively town is the gateway to the Bernese Oberland. If you are staying here, the stunning Jungfrau mountains are within easy reach for unforgettable day trips.
