From Lucerne to Bern connecting with Interlaken, Brig, Montreux and the Ticino region

The route from Lucerne to Bern via the Entlebuch and Emmental regions is considered an insider's tip among the scenic routes of Switzerland. A multi centre holiday can easily be arranged, thanks to good connections with the Luzern-Interlaken Express and GoldenPass Line to Montreux, the Lötschberg Regio Express to Brig, the Pre-Alpine Express to St. Gallen and the Gotthard Panorama Express to the Ticino resorts in the south.

The Emmental Regio Express itself offers some lovely views. As you travel into the Entlebuch, the train crosses Switzerland's first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, while the fascinating fens are best known for their large diversity of fauna and flora. The Emmental still has an unspoilt nature as you can see from its typical farmhouses with their low-lying roofs set against the gently undulating hills. The milk which is made into the famous Emmental cheese with its characteristic big holes, comes from the cows grazing the lush meadows here.

How long is the Emmental Regio Express journey
