Day 1-4 - Enjoy the glorious lake and mountains of Lucerne

Your morning flight to Zurich (around 08.40) and rail transfer to Lucerne allows you to have the afternoon at your leisure. You’ll stay at the 3 star superior Waldstätterhof in the centre of town, convenient for cafés, museums and chocolate boutiques in this historic resort by the lake. The half board option is recommended as the hotel has an excellent kitchen. 

With your Swiss Travel Pass Lucerne offers so much, and you may want to start with a scenic cruise on the lake. You could either stay on board for a full round trip, or maybe hop on and hop off at your leisure, exploring the pretty villages that dot the lake shore. Then there are the mountains – several are included with your Pass so you have a choice of visiting Mount Rigi and Stanserhorn each with restaurants with sun terraces and plenty of walking trails. You may prefer the solitude of Stoos and its glorious scenery. Mount Pilatus is also nearby, with 50% off mountain transport.

Day 5 - Scenic journey to Interlaken

Today you join the Luzern-Interlaken Express for the scenic route which takes you over the dramatic Brünig Pass and along the lakeside to Interlaken. A warm welcome awaits you at your choice of 4 star hotels, the Carlton Europe or the Metropole; choose to upgrade to half board evening meals for a great value stay.

Day 6-8 - A stay in Interlaken with its lakes and a choice of mountain visits

Interlaken benefits from lying between two picturesque lakes – both have a full timetable of cruises offering beautiful views of the mountains which ring the water and they are free with your Pass. If you time your journey carefully you may be able to cruise on a vintage paddle steamer. You may also like to journey up into the mountains and experience the pure alpine air and outstanding scenery. Make precious memories while enjoying a drink in a Jungfrau village café or while walking along a gentle alpine trail. Your journey to the villages is free and you have a discount for the onward mountain travel: suggestions include Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg, each with glorious views. Use your Pass for a longer rail journey such as to the pretty village of Kandersteg - have a wander and enjoy coffee and cake!

With a late afternoon flight, you could make a stop in historic Bern for a stroll around the Old Town before resuming your journey to the airport.
