The ski area stretches across three areas of Villars, Gryon and Les Diablerets and gives you the opportunity to ski 112km of prepared pistes up to a height of over 3,000m. The cog railway takes the strain going up from Villars to Bretaye for both skiers and walkers.Â

The Villars-Gryon ski area
The local lift pass covers 220km of prepared pistes in the Alps Vaudoises which includes both Leysin and Les Mosses.
From Villars itself you can reach the main ski areas by gondola to Roc d'Orsay, which is a great area for the intermediate skier or by cog railway to Betraye where a whole network of runs and lifts link you to Les Chaux and Les Diablerets. Overall it offers the beginner and intermediate skier a fabulous choice of runs. For advanced skiers, there are several black runs including the more challenging 7 km long descent 'Combe d'Audon' from the glacier.

Winter walking There are 30km of paths in the region, specially prepared for winter walking with great views.
Snowboarding There are designated parks at Bretaye and on the glacier as well as good terrain on which to hone your skills.
Paragliding Villars-Gryon is situated in an impressive amphitheatre of mountains, which forms a barrier against the prevailing winds and this makes it ideal for paragliding. Free-flight schools offers flights in tandem paragliders. Please note that most insurance policies may exclude this activity.
Toboggan Glide down the 2km run from Col de Soud through the forest to Villars.
Sports Centres There are two in the village, one with indoor tennis, vollyball, badminton and squash and another with an ice rink, indoor pool with wellness centre and a brand new fitness centre with views over the Vaud Alps.Â

Après ski in Villars
The village offers a vast array of traditional cafés and restaurants, offering both local and international cuisine. The bars are cosmopolitan with everything from local music to Blues and Jazz and the most renowned night spot is El Gringo for late dancing and that last cocktail. Le P'tit Chalet has an outdoor bar and is right opposite the railway station. It is also well worth a visit to the 105 Bar - in the centre of Villars.
