Day 1 - Arrive and explore the lakeside resort of Weggis

Flight from the UK to Zurich airport in under 2 hours with train and lake boat to Weggis and enjoy your first taste of this picturesque lakeside resort.

Day 2-4 - Tranquil Weggis and the mountains of Central Switzerland

Weggis is a peaceful lakeside village nestling below Mount Rigi. With your Swiss Travel Pass you can enjoy free travel around the dramatic scenery of Central Switzerland - a lake cruise is a great way to relax and connect with your mountain visits. Also free with your Swiss Travel Pass is travel to Mount Rigi via the cable car from Weggis or the railway from nearby Vitznau, as well as the Stanserhorn open deck cable car and the Stoos funicular. The historic town of Lucerne lies just along the lake and has wonderful sightseeing, shopping and restaurants. Pilatus and other mountain railways and cable cars around Lake Lucerne are available at a 50% reduction.

Day 5 - Travel on the Luzern-Interlaken Express and Lötschberg Regio Express to Kandersteg

A splendid way to start your journey is the cruise from Weggis to Lucerne. Here you join the Luzern-Interlaken Express on a striking 2 hour journey travelling along a very scenic route including the fabulous Brünig Pass, the resort of Meiringen and the final run alongside Lake Brienz into Interlaken. Take the regional train alongside Interlaken’s other lake - Lake Thun - to Spiez to join the Lötschberg Regio Express. The old, looping route meanders to Kandersteg, where a warm welcome awaits you at your hotel.

Day 6-7 - Discover the wonderful mountain village of Kandersteg

This is perhaps the ultimate idyllic Bernese Oberland alpine village. Kandersteg enjoys a picture-perfect setting in the mountains with lush meadows and mountain streams and a village centre characterised by traditional wooden buildings and cosy restaurants. A favourite spot for walkers, the area boasts a huge number of marked trails, taking in some truly beautiful alpine scenery and the deep blue lakes of Oeschinensee and Blausee. Your stay in Kandersteg is enhanced by the Kandersteg Guest Card with free local travel and discounts for the Oeschinensee cable car during the summer months. From Kandersteg is easy to take a scenic journey south to Brig, free with your Swiss Travel Pass.

Day 8 - Last day

Time for a last stroll around before you take the train back to Zurich airport for your flight to the UK.
