What to see and do
Wengen is in an ideal situation for many of the region's top attractions. You can take the mountain train up to Kleine Scheidegg for fabulous walks and connections to the Jungfraujoch-Top of Europe. From Kleine Scheidegg you can also travel down to Grindelwald which lies at the foot of the Eiger. Wengen has its own cable car to Männlichen, another good walking area, which also connects by aerial gondola to Grindelwald. This is the longest in Europe and takes approximately 30 minutes over lovely alpine meadows. We can recommend combining the train Wengen-Kleine Scheidegg-Grindelwald and gondola Grindelwald-Männlichen-Wengen as a wonderful round trip.
On the other side of the Lauterbrunnen Valley is Mürren with the impressive Schilthorn-Piz Gloria cable car to Piz Gloria, one of the original revolving restaurants in the Alps which was made famous by the James Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. It is also very simple to travel down to Interlaken to enjoy a lake cruise or perhaps take a scenic walk at Harder Kulm. Please click here for our summary of the best the region has to offer.
Visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Take a day to visit the amazing Jungfrau-Aletsch Glacier with a stunning mountain rail journey to the Jungfraujoch and awesome views across the glacier from the summit. You can also easily reach the beautifully historic Old Town of Bern from Wengen. Find more Swiss World Heritage Sites here.
