Highlights

Welcome at the Hotel Tannenhof, Zermatt

Your special day begins at 10am the Hotel Tannenhof, where the tour guide will greet you and invite you to enjoy a welcome drink and finger food. Afterwards, the guide will take you on a short walk through the old village of Zermatt to the Gornergrat Railway valley station.

Journey aboard the NostalChic train

At the Gornergrat station you will see your exclusive train - a smartly converted, nostalgic railcar. The stylish livery is striking as you approach the train and on board the traditional elegance continues with he unique soft furnishings. All passengers are guaranteed a window seat.

The route takes you from Zermatt at 1,604m above sea level to the world-famous Gornergrat, 3,089m along a breathtaking and varied panorama.

Exclusive

The train makes a stop where no other Gornergrat train does, between the Riffelalp and Riffelberg stations. This is just above the tree line, allowing passengers to take fantastic photos at the location considered to give the most spectacular view of the Matterhorn.

Your guide will entertain and inform you throughout the journey.

Discover the Gornergrat peak

Upon arrival, you will have time to explore this awe-inspiring, other-worldly location. You are free to wander by yourself, or join a group for a tour organised by your guide. The panorama is among the finest in the world: the views take in the Monte Rosa massif (with Switzerland's highest peak), the Gorner Glacier and a total of 29 mountains above 4,000m, including, of course, the Matterhorn in all its glory. You may wish to visit the Zoom the Matterhorn interactive experience and see the Matterhorn in a completely new way.

Splendid lunch at the Riffelhaus 1853

Back on the train, you'll descend to Riffelberg station and make your way to the restaurant of the Hotel Riffelhaus 1853 - the oldest hotel in the Alps which boasts fantastic views. A delightful four course meal of fine Swiss cuisine will be served, with accompanying wine. (Dietary requirements can be accommodated with prior notice).

After your meal the leisurely journey back to Zermatt begins. You should arrive by 4pm and will be given a souvenir to mark this unforgettable day in the mountains.
